PLC “Family” Meeting

      

On Thursday, May 30, the Lithuanian World Center staff and Board hosted a meeting that brought together representatives from most of the 39 organizations and businesses that operate in our facility.  Although the organizations cover a variety of activities, each one shares a similar mission: to preserve the nationality, culture and traditions of Lithuania while promoting its name here in the United States.

At this meeting, we discussed last year’s projects, listened to each other’s needs and discussed future plans. LWC Executive Director Artūras Žilys made a presentation that highlighted the Center’s accomplishments over the last 10 years.   “Before and After” photos were a stunning reminder that our building has never looked better, and that so much has been improved over the last decade.

 

 

For the first time, the Center presented to its organizations and businesses the formal three-phase plan for “Unity Park” (to be located on the grounds in front of the main entrance to the church and school).  Unity Park was unanimously approved by all in attendance and is already home to two significant monuments.  The plan is for all of the LWC organizations to work together to make the park a reality, for when we work together we can accomplish so much more than when we work alone.  The primary goal of Unity Park is to provide an area available to all of our organizations equally, where our community can gather together for events and important commemorations.  It will be a place that brings us together and unifies us.

The Lithuanian World Center appreciates all of the organizations and businesses who call us their second home, and we especially would like to thank those representatives who took the time to attend the meeting.  We look forward to working with them all this year and in the future.

Ketvirtadienį, gegužės 30 dieną, įvyko visų PLC patalpose gyvuojančių ir dirbančių organizacijų susirinkimas. Tokio didelio stalo dar nebuvo! Šiandien mūsų net 39 organizacijos! Savo darbais apimame įvairiausias lietuviškas veiklas, tačiau visų misija yra labai panaši: išsaugoti tautiškumą ir garsinti Lietuvos vardą. Taigi, aptarėme praėjusių metų darbus, išklausėme vieni kitų poreikius ir aptarėme ateities planus.

PLC direktorius Artūras Žilys apžvelgė gerėjančią PLC situaciją ir per paskutinius 10 metų nuveiktus darbus.  Vaizdinė įvykdytų projektų medžiaga parodė, kaip stipriai pasikeitė Centras ir kiek buvo nuveikta gerinant ir modernizuojant patalpas visų Centro naudotojų patogumui ir saugumui.

Pirmą kartą organizacijoms buvo pristatytas 3 etapų Vienybės parko kūrimo planas PLC priekiniame kieme, kuriam buvo vieningai pritarta.  Šis parkas apjungs jau du ženklius paminklus į vientisą erdvę, kuri bus skirta visų naudojimui ir atspindės mūsų visų bendrą darbą.  Juk tik dirbdami kartu galime pasiekti daug daugiau.  Taigi, likime vieningi.
